My heart breaks as I share this news. Cathy is my best friend and roommate. Her mom passed away on October 23rd, 2020. Losing a mother is hard enough and now her family is faced with an immense financial burden due to the hospital bills and funeral costs. She shouldn’t have to worry about the financial burden during this difficult time for her and her family. I want to do everything I can to help ease that burden and am asking all of you for your help and support.
Mrs. Hyeon was working at the family dry cleaning business when she suffered a stroke and collapsed. She was immediately taken to the hospital where the doctors did what they could, but by that point, it was too late. This came as a shock to everyone since she had been healthy and happy at the time.
With her tailoring skills being a major part of the dry cleaning business, the family will have a hard time recovering from this financial burden that has been exacerbated by the ongoing pandemic. Since demand for dry cleaning has gone down as people are quarantining, Mrs. Hyeon’s tailoring is vital to the business and was helpful in continuing to bring in some extra cash when possible. Now, the family is scrambling to figure out how to cover all of their current costs, and are deeply worried about financially getting through the coming months.
Mrs. Hyeon was a beloved member of the Newtown community and gave up everything for her children. Her dedication, kindness, and joy will be sorely missed by all. Her obituary, copied below from the above link, illuminates just how much she meant to her family and friends.
One of Mrs. Hyeon’s dreams was to go to college, but she never had the opportunity. When her youngest daughter, Cathy got accepted to Harvard, it was a dream come true.
