Kyra Chan Scholarship Fund

Donation protected
We were saddened to hear the news that long time Zynga employee Kai Chan suddenly passed away this past weekend. Kai was based in San Francisco and has been a tremendous part of the Zynga family for more than 7 years.

Throughout his time at the company, he worked on some of our biggest titles, including designing the buildings in our original CityVille game which was played by millions of our players around the world. Fortune Magazine had the opportunity to speak with Kai during the game’s 2011 launch and called him the “Frank Gehry of CityVille” in an interview about his unique and important contribution to the game.

For those of you at Zynga or in our industry that knew and worked with Kai, he was recognized as a thoughtful, passionate leader who jumped in to help with new assignments and above all, advocated for his teams and their well-being. Many of you have shared that he was a great friend, leader and colleague. Kai was devoted to his family and was proud to bring his daughter into the office and share what he was working on with her.

To support Kai’s family, we’re setting up a scholarship fund for his 10-year-old daughter Kyra to help with her education.  While Zynga will be matching the donations made by its employees globally, this fund is open to anyone who would like to contribute in Kai's memory.

Please keep Kai’s family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
