Kypmas isn’t about me or my birthday — to me, it’s just an excuse to get all my favourite people in the same place at the same time.
This year, I want to take all that positive energy and turn it into something more meaningful: help those who are vulnerable and in need of support.
This year, I’m asking you to consider donating to some special causes.
Every penny goes directly to people and organisations I’ve personally connected with. Your donations will be distributed across the following causes:
1. Sasa’s Family – Siem Reap, Cambodia
While travelling, I met Sasa - a young child with Down Syndrome, a heart condition, and mobility challenges. Despite all that, Sasa and her family radiated warmth and joy.
But basics like milk, nappies, and mobility support are really expensive in Cambodia. And unfortunately (unlike in many wealthier countries) families with disabled children do not receive any support from the state and charities. I’ve also seen personally how disability can impact a family’s life - emotionally, physically, financially.
I’m in direct contact with Sasa’s family and have their bank details — so a part of the funds will go straight to them.
2. A Palestinian Family – Jerash Refugee Camp, Jordan
Through my friend Dana, I’ve been connected to a family displaced by the ongoing violence against the Palestinian people. They currently live in Jerash refugee camp in Jordan — in a home infested with scorpions and rats, with no electricity or running water.
A large share of the money raised will directly go towards helping them renovate their space into a safe and liveable home.
See recent renovation below:
3. UXO Lao
I was stunned to find out that Laos is the most bombed country per capita in history. During the “Secret War,” the US dropped over 2 million tons of bombs — one planeload every 8 minutes, 24/7, for 9 years. 30% didn’t explode.
Since then, 20,000+ people (mostly children) have been killed or injured by unexploded ordnance (UXO).
UXO Lao is the national organisation removing these bombs so the people of Laos can use their land safely again. We’ll be donating a portion of funds to support their mission.
4. The Alzheimer’s Society (UK)
I recently lost my grandad to Alzheimer’s. To honour him - and to support others affected - we’ll be donating to The Alzheimer’s Society UK also.
---
But no matter how much you give - every little helps. £1, £5, whatever you can spare.
And of course, there’s zero pressure to give - showing up to more than enough ✨
Much love,
Alex Kyp x
