Kyle's Place

Kyle's Place is a new initiative that will be the home of TransParent Hamilton-Niagara, The TransFORM pop-up shops and the Brody Brown Name Change Fund.The main focus of Kyle's Place will be providing peer support and resources to parents of trans/non-binary kids and youth as well as a place to build community for older trans folks who are often overlooked in terms of programming, funding etc. There is a dedicated office area for one on one support and we are looking for trans or queer therapists in private practice who work with community on a sliding scale who might be interested in renting the space at a very reasonable monthly rate.

Kyle's Place officially opens May 1st, 2019 and we  are currently raising funds.  We need help with covering the cost of the monthly commercial lease, buying office furniture,  IT support, establishing the Brody Brown Name Change Fund as well as supplies such as bus tickets and refreshments for when we host various meetings/group events.

We are hesitant to apply for charitable status and are being very careful about funding opportunities as we do not want to be 'muzzled' in any way. We feel it is impossible to not be political when it comes to issues of social justice and legislative human rights for marginalized communities.

All of the work we do at Kyle's Place is done voluntarily by parents of trans and non-binary kids/youth and trans folks. We also want to offer free meeting space to individuals/groups that reflect our anti-oppressive/anti-racist/sex positive/social justice values.
