Kyle James 'Philosoraptor' Award

The quote 'It is better to give than receive', is a very true. With that thought in mind, we decided we wanted to create a college scholarship in memory of my son, Kyle Lloyd James. We have been thinking about doing this for many years and now seems like the perfect time.
After Kyle passed away on his motorcycle in 2010, his friends told me that they used to call him the 'Philosoraptor'. It was funny to me because I just thought it meant that he was a philosopher (and he liked dinosaurs since he was little), but when writing this page, I discovered that it meant someone who gave advice and thought about things deeply. It is a special word awarded to him by his dear friends.
The scholarship award will go to a graduating Royal Palm Beach High School student who is going to college. The applicants will need to write a couple of paragraphs on one of their qualities that their parent's may not be aware of, but their friends know about. The essay will not be judged on grammar because Kyle didn't have perfect grammar, but somehow he made it into Honors English because of his creativity. The award will not be based on grades, because Kyle was a student who made grades from A's to D's. He did not apply himself during high school, however he was very bright. However, when he started college, he finally got serious with learning.
Please join me in creating this memorial scholarship to give to a graduating student from Royal Palm Beach High School. It will be my honor to be able to award the money in Kyle's memory during Senior Awards night. I hope his family and friends will help me create this scholarship award. Any amount helps, so please don't feel bad for small donations because they add up. I'm hoping the RPBHS class of 2008 will help me make this a success.
