Anthony's Benefit

This is about a little boy who was born on August 11th 2014 with no complications and was lovingly received by his mother (Alyson) and father (Dan) along with grandparents, great grandparents, aunts and uncles. After his 2 month checkup, and a 4 day stay in the pediatric ICU, it was discovered that he had a leaky mitral valve causing an enlarged heart and a loud murmur.  The news was that he would need to have heart surgery in 2-4 months depending on his growth. After a few more visits to doctors and the ICU, Anthony was admitted to the Pediatric ICU at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital on December 15th with difficulty breathing, RSV and coronavirus. He was intubated on December 17th as he was unable to breathe on his own because his heart had become so enlarged that it was collapsing his airway. While on the respirator waiting for the viruses to clear up, the doctors were deciding what course of action to take. On January 9th (after 23 days on respirator) Anthony underwent over 6 hours of surgery to replace his mitral valve with a mechanical valve. The breathing tube was removed successfully on January 13th (27 days after initial intubation) and over the next few days as he continued to improve the 7 IV's and, finally, his feeding tube, were removed on January 21st allowing him to go home on January 22nd (after 39 days in ICU).
   This fund raiser has been established to assist the family in supporting Anthony's medical needs. He will require multiple surgeries over the next 15-20 years to replace the mechanical valve based on his growth and heart size.
   This little man has touched so many already that I truly believe he will become someone who can change the world and do something great. Please help him accomplish this with your donation.
