Kyinka, Ukraine: School and clinic need generators

Donation protected
Hello, we are a group of returned Peace Corps volunteers who served in Ukraine. In March of 2022, the village where we completed our training, Kyinka, was heavily bombed by Russian forces. With winter approaching and Ukraine's energy infrastructure crippled by the war, Kyinka desperately needs secure electricity and heat.

The village has requested two generators for their medical clinic and the local school, 17 and 15 Kilowatts, respectively. Currently run by the International Medical Corps, the clinic does not have enough electricity for the medical staff working there. At the school, a lack of heating is causing more and more students to get sick. The school is a large two-story structure with roughly 400 students from Kyinka and smaller villages nearby.

The village is currently only getting electricity for several hours each day, and we know from experience just how cold Ukrainian winters can be. That is why we are asking you to assist us in helping this community. Any donation that you can make would be very helpful.

The village currently has enough fuel to power the requested generators.

The funds will be collected here and then transferred to the head of the village council, Andriy Golovach. We have worked with him before and helped raise money in April for a generator for the village's water supply. You can read more about him and the village's struggles here (note: the article is in Ukrainian) https://www.0462.ua/news/3491597/ak-vstoala-kiinka-ta-vtrimala-navalu-rasistiv

A little bit about Kyinka, it is a small village of about 2,000 people located just outside the city of Chernihiv. It served as a Peace Corps training location. Numerous volunteers, including us, would stay with host families, learn Ukrainian, and practice teaching at the local school. When the war broke out, Kyinka was hit with cluster munitions from Russian forces. They have struggled to rebuild,
