It is through the generous support of the community that Valley Dogs Rescue can save lives and find loving forever homes for the dogs in need.  Once again, we find it difficult, but necessary, to ask for your help with one of our deserving pups.

This is our sweet Kydden, who has a torn ACL that needs to be fixed.  We had originally opted for surgery, but after a reliable reference, we have decided to go with a custom knee brace and avoid surgery and all the possible complications that go with it.

Kydden has not had an easy time since she was rescued.  She was pregnant,  running with another dog in the cold,  and doing what she had to do to survive.  She had abrasions, a broken tooth, intestinal parasites, and nowhere to call home.  She was very happy to be in a warm, safe environment, but had extreme separation anxiety and fear of enclosure.

She gave birth to 8 puppies, but sadly 3 were stillborn. The remaining 5 pups were healthy and happy and turned into beautiful puppies almost as gorgeous as their mama. They have all been adopted to wonderful families.  While Kydden was getting ready for her own forever family, she developed a limp and would hold up her back leg.  This responded well to anti-inflammatory medication, but recurred, so we took her in for x-rays.  Two sets of x-rays revealed no visible injury, so 30 days of rest and anti-inflammatory meds were prescribed.  Unfortunately, the episodes became more frequent, and we took her to an orthopedic vet for evaluation.

Based on history, observation, and physical exam, it was determined that Kydden most likely has a partial competent ACL tear.  Originally we opted for surgery, but based on a recommendation from someone who had been in a similar situation, we have decided to go with a custom knee brace fitted specifically for Kydden, from a very reputable company called Posh Dog Knee Brace.   They have excellent reviews and success stories, one of them from a personal friend who said these braces saved their dog's life!!

With the current economic situation, adoptions and donations have been down, and subsequently financial resources.  While this option is significantly less expensive than surgery, we still really need your help.  Will you help us give this wonderful girl pain-free mobility??  Any donation is greatly appreciated, and there is truly no donation too small. Thank you from Kydden and Valley Dogs Rescue!!
