I am writing this note to ask for your help. As most of you know, this is not something I am comfortable doing, (or very good at), but at this point, I realize I can’t do it alone. I need to have surgery and am asking for help in meeting the portion of my surgical and recovery costs not covered by my insurance policy. Our family business has taken some major financial hits in the past year and we are not in a good financial position at this point.
I have been experiencing growing hip pain for the last several months. PT and cortisone shots did not relieve the pain. I have been diagnosed with FAI (hip impingement) and a torn labrum. Basically, my leg bone no longer fits into my hip socket correctly and is
pinching/tearing the cartilage that protects the hip joint.
To repair the current structure issue, cartridge damage and to reduce or avoid an early future hip replacement, my doctors are recommending I have hip surgery ASAP. I will be having surgery on April 27th. After the surgery, I will be rehabilitating for at least four months. This process includes two to three physical therapy sessions per week.
I am not allowed to return to work while doing rehab because my job requires I have full mobility. After two weeks off without pay, the company I work for offers short-term disability that pays 60% of my normal hourly rate but for only a 32 hour work week.
I have been working to save enough to make the down payment required by the hospital prior to surgery, but could use your help to pay for the balance of my deductible, the remaining 20% insurance does not cover, and also the co-pay for my physical therapy visits.
Even if you are not able to give, please know I appreciate your prayers and presence in my life.
One last note –
I realize that some folks are not comfortable with putting money through fund raising sites
like this. I have made arrangements to allow you to make a donation in my name directly
to my physical therapist and/or my surgery center. If you would like to use this method, please feel free to contact me and I will provide you with the contact information. That way, you know the money is being used to the cause to which it is given.
I am including a breakdown of my estimated out of pocket costs. It is important to me that you have a clear understanding of where the money I’m asking for will be going:
Pre-surgery costs to meet deductible: $ 800
Surgery (20% of cost) $ 7,500
Physical Therapy $ 2,650
**This includes co-pays and other needed therapy treatments
