Hello! I hope you can help me. My mom, brother and I rescued my fur-baby, Cowboy, from a Jack Russell Rescue in May 2013. He is a great addition to our family.
Unfortunately, the past few weeks he has been very ill. Five vet visits, including one ER and one Neurology visit later, we now know that he has a herniated/bulging disk in his neck.
We are currently treating him with medications (highest dose of steroids, 2 pain meds and 2 muscle relaxers), but this will only help to minimize the pain until we can surgically correct the issue.
I have already spent $800 in vet visits and meds. The MRI and the surgery will be approximately $5000. I am sorry to say that I do not have these funds or the resources to obtain them. The Neurologist said that with his age, 5, and his otherwise healthy status, the surgery would definitely correct the issue all together and he would continue to lead a normal, healthy life.
We feel like a failure as his rescue family, by not being able to provide him with the care he needs due to financial reasons. We are more than happy to cover follow up vet expenses, as well as meds and care during his healing time after the surgery, we just can't afford the surgery itself. We can't afford to provide him with the medical care he needs right now. This is very worrisome, as he was already adopted out twice and returned before we got him. It took us a while to gain his trust and bond with him, and I would hate to see him have to go through that yet again, especially with him not feeling himself right now.
We are reaching out to our families, friends, acquaintances and all animal lovers to help us meet this goal of $5000 to get our Cowboy his surgery. Please share this with everyone you know to help us get the word out! Any and all donations are accepted and appreciated! We're hoping that with your help, we can keep a happy, healthy Cowboy as part of our family.
