Help replace stolen equipment

Hello, my name is Jackie and I am the team Mom for Duarte’s 10u and 12u Softball team. It is with a very heavy heart that we are coming to our family, friends, community and fellow Softball lovers with a great need for help. I am writing this request because our devoted coach takes great pride in all he does, and can not bring himself to ask for help. Over the weekend our dedicated coach had his truck broken into, where he had over $5000.00 worth of our teams equipment inside. All of our equipment was stolen, down to the very last Softball. Among the many items that were taken were some crucial items such as 3 sets of catchers gear, multiple gloves, 10 helmets, 6 bats and multiple buckets of balls needed for each and every game and practice. We have a diverse group of girls with the majority of our girls from Monrovia and Duarte but have some who have joined us from as far out as Victorville. Over the passed 3 years our coaches have worked tirelessly to build our program back up, putting us back on the “Softball map”, thus attracting more local youth as well as youth from a far. 3 years ago, we were only able to make one team/one age group. We lacked youth sign ups, parent and community support, equipment and coaches. Over the last few years we have gained all this, and are anticipating having 4 teams/4 age groups this spring. Many of our families are coming from low income situations. We have worked extremely hard to fundraise so that no player is turned away due to the inability to pay. (The current fall season was $1300 to join not including uniforms).
We pride ourselves on teaching these girls, not only the sport, but critical life skills. It is a crucial age for these young youths as they transition into young ladies. We are instilling in these young ladies the importance of commitment, winning, failure, time management, how to manage relationships on a team, discipline, communication skills, presence, networking, confidence, consequences for actions, and much more than just the “sport”.
Many of our girls are coming from single parent or broken homes where this is their second family where they are being taught life skills. It would be devastating if our season had to end this weekend due to a selfish act of a stranger(s).
We are asking for any help you may be able to support with. If there are any questions or concerns you are welcome to contact myself at [phone redacted] or our head Coach/Manager Jorge Oseguera at (626) [phone redacted]‬. We Thank you in advance for coming together and helping us, help our youth.
