Doing this for Andrew

Donation protected
This campaign is for my friend Andrew. My college roommate, my amigo, my pal. But it’s not just to help Andrew, it’s for his 14 year old daughter Becca.

Andrew has a progressive form of MS and at 43 he is the youngest resident in a nursing home in Beachwood, Ohio.

He is a divorced father of a teenage girl who he loves with every part of his heart and soul. The day he was diagnosed with this horrible disease, he began writing a book for Becca. Free flowing feelings and excerpts that are only for her so when the unfortunate day arrives when Becca doesn’t have her father on earth, she will have memories to reflect upon. Words written only for her.

Andrew is now faced with more adversity then he has ever imagined. His disease has taken his ability to use his hands and he can no longer continue to write. I need to help raise the money to get him the voice activated technology so he can continue to document his love for his daughter and also interact with his friends and family on the internet, skype etc.

Andrew is dependent for all daily tasks including dressing, bathing, and transfers due to the progressive nature of his disease. He is unable to re-position himself independently, requiring assistance from nursing to reposition him in bed and in the tilt in space chair. At this time, Andrew has to rely on others to tilt and recline the chair and sometimes this can take some time, leaving Andrew in discomfort. The custom chair that the nursing home is trying to get him through Medicaid will help Andrew navigate his environment and interact socially with others throughout the facility versus having to sit in his room all day. A power chair will allow Andrew to go off of the unit and explore his environment while also improving his quality of life.

Andrew is a young individual, who is motivated to feel like a human being and more independent. I am hopeful that getting an electric chair and technology equipment, will help Andrew feel more like the person he was before this awful disease started to take a toll on his body. I know, having these resources will allow him to live out the rest of his life to the fullest and help him do some of the things he likes to do without having to rely on another person.

Most importantly, when I asked Andrew what was most important to him if he could get the chair or the technology to write the book for his daughter, he told me "he would rather waste away in bed to leave his daughter something other than get a chair. I am not that selfish".

The least I could do is to try and help Andrew do that.....I hope you will consider helping too!!!!!!
