Kerala Flood Relief Fund

Donation protected
The Indian state of Kerala faced its worst floods since the 1920s, claiming over 300 lives and forcing more than 1,000,000 people into relief camps. Transportation, power, food and water were impacted throughout, with the state put on red alert.

You may have never been to Kerala, you may have been there on holiday or you may have even lived there at some point. However one thing I can guarantee is that anyone who has visited Kerala will always remember their time there fondly. For me, it’s the two years of schooling and countless summers I have spent there with family and friends.

With a population of close to 35 million, we need as much help as we can get.

The price of a Big Mac meal can also buy a torch for a family plunged into darkness due to power outages. A three piece box at KFC? The same cost as a sleeping mat for a person whose had to abandon their home to escape the rising floodwaters. These amounts may sound trivial, but every dollar counts.

Despite growing up in mainly Australia and New Zealand, my Kerala heritage will always hold a place in my heart. It’s hard not being on the ground to directly help out, but if you were in the same position, I’m sure you would do whatever you could do to help from the sidelines.

In times of trouble, it’s more important than ever to come together and support one another. I cannot begin to describe how grateful I would be for any contributions made, with all money going towards the flood victims for emergency supplies.
