Our Hero

 Hero has been in emergency care since Saturday. Yesterday an ultrasound was done, which showed that his intestine was 3 times the size it should be. They informed us that it could rupture at any point. It also showed that his liver and lymphnodes were inflamed, and there was fluid in his stomach. They were quite sure it was mass cell cancer. They took samples of his liver, lymphnode, and stomach fluid last night, and warned us that he may require emergency surgery in the night, or even worst, we may lose him.

During the biopsy they found bacteria in a swollen lymph node, which they are thinking is causing the problem. They think it reacted to something (possibly a tear in the intestine) and abscessed.

Hero has to stay in the vet on IV antibiotics for at least a few more days. They are also going to do another ultrasound on Thursday to see how things are looking. There is a possibility that Hero will still need emergency surgery, but as of now, it sounds like he is going to make it! 

Although Hero is insured, the costs are exceeding the insurance limit of $5,000, so we are asking for your help. Every little bit helps. If you can’t donate, please share.

We adopted Hero from Texas back in February 2017 when he was just a pup. Him and his three brothers had been rescued from a high kill shelter, and were looking for their forever homes. We are SO lucky to have welcomed such a special boy into our family.

Hero is perfect. He really showed his incredible caring nature when our son Rowin was born. Rowin is now 16 months old, and Hero and him have become the best of friends. Hero knows how to make Rowin laugh, and he LOVES to do just that. He never takes Rowin’s toys, but is always willing to share his own.

Hero is literally the dream dog, the perfect family member, and we aren’t ready to loose him at just 3 years old.
