Admiral Fluffybottom's Bark

Donation protected

Hi there! My name is Blue (but I answer to Noggin, Blueregard, and Admiral Fluffybottom).  I was rescued by my momma when I was three years old from a family that abused me, and left me at the pound extremely malnourished. To repay her, I stayed by her side through her toughest times and now we are a happy pack!

However, I have developed a breathing problem called larengal paralysis. This condition is very common in older, large breed dogs.  My problem has been that desperately gulping for air leaves pockets of air in my tummy, and I don't want to eat. It is easily treatable with a simple operation, but that's where my family needs your help! My momma is a college student who spends almost 50% of her wages in rent (in a town where rent is rising higher than I can jump when I get excited about kibble!).  She found a line of credit to pay for most of it, but not all of my operation. She wants everyone to know that she will try to repay your kindness with a homemade gift, or home cooked meal.  And I am happy to sniff all crotches that come over. (I'm helpful like that!) Also, please read below (especially if you have a large breed pooch like me!):

Larengal Paralysis is a common condition in large breed dogs. It can occur in dogs and even larger horses! What happens is the top of the larynx has several flaps that open when an animal breathes in. In animals with "lar par" these little flaps (or french doors as my vet says) becomes paralyzed and won't open. In extreme circumstances they can clamp shut and cause fainting or even death. Please be aware of this condition if you have an older dog! You may notice it first in their bark, which will sound like they have larengitis. The prognosis is excellent with surgery, but some people don't notice this condition until it becomes a emergency situation. Here's a link to more info:
