Lisa Jo's Adoption Journey

Our very dear friend Lisa is adopting her second child Olsen from Haiti. This has been a nine year journey as she has waited for a referral from a country that allows single parents to adopt. Lisa and her daughter Tiann have gotten to meet Olsen their new son and brother but it can often take up to a year for the adoption process to get completed so that Olsen can come home. Lisa works for state government and does not have the means to go back and visit Olsen on a regular basis between now and her adoption being final. We cannot imagine with some of us being mothers the pain of leaving your child behind in another country while waiting for a day in the future to go get him. Our hope is to raise enough money so that Lisa and Tiann can go back to Haiti hopefully every month to see and bond with Olsen until the adoption is final.

What many people should know about Lisa and one of the reasons for this campaign is that Lisa does many things for others. We will name just a few  that make us think of her: volunteering for the Greater Holiday Food Drive, Camp Counselor and Camp Dean at Crystal Springs Church Camp, growing out her hair and cutting on a regular basis to donate her hair for cancer patient's wigs.  There are many more but those are the ones that often make us think of her.
