Kush Films Recovery & Online Cinema Dev Fundraiser

Hello friends, colleagues, supporters & film fans my independent' small (but prominent & renowned) business Kush Films needs your support to help us meet a big challenge and raise £10,000 which will go towards helping our recovery from the devastating effects of the long UK pandemic lockdown that we have experienced here in London for 1 year now along with the UK film industry also been completely shutdown; where we lost all work and times have been extremely difficult. But with all that said life in the UK film industry supporting disadvantaged filmmakers and creating a renowned exhibition/marketing platform for black films over the last 23 years has always been a fight. I and company are up for the fight to carry on the important legacy & pioneering work that the business has always done; which is reflected in our long history of serving our community and being a pioneer & leader in film exhibition creating national public access to disadvantaged black/minority filmmakers and great international black films on the big screen.  This pandemic has made one thing clear and that is the need to embrace the future and change the way the business delivers film entertainment to our supporters as well as other new development services aimed at youth development.

The time is now and its was time to embrace the new virtual digital age and new trend of people like yourselves accessing and enjoying film/TV content online. So the plan is to be proactive, forward-thinking and turn the business around by creating a new and innovative state-of-the-art online cinema platform (never before done by a BME business like Kush Films), employ and mentor a number of new young staff members and making and sure that this small business has the tools to survive and flourish in the post Covid era.

90% of the funds that you donate to our cause will go towards  Kush Online Cinema - an online home for old, new and classic black films.

KUSH ONLINE CINEMA:

For the technical development and build of the Kush Online Cinema in reality I need at least 30k for additional content acquisition, marketing and administration and then more for staff & development over following years - all which I plan to get via investment/funding) but one step at a time.

They say to walk a thousand miles; one first has to take the first step!

This initial campaign will help us build the brand new state of the art online VOD cinema (similar to www.curzonhomecinema.com) where we aim to offer great classic, hard-to-find & new films and eventually original content developed by aspiring young talent, we also hope to provide opportunities for mature industry talent often these days forgotten about.

You will be able to pay a one-off transactional fee to watch new release films from the UK, Caribbean, Africa and around the world. There will also be an option to become a monthly subscriber and watch a back catalogue of films; we also plan to have free content and educational how-to guidance and training videos for young filmmakers, actors, writers etc.

The site is currently being built by international web developers www.i2ic.com who I have a longstanding relationship with and one of the directors sympathetic to the recent Black Lives Matters struggle and my request for support has pledged to start building the VOD site now and help me further by offering discounted ongoing costs to manage the running administrative backend of site,

I now need to raise the necessary funds - and pay back his faith in me and belief that I/Kush Films with the support of people like you, my acting friends, colleagues, my wider community & true film fans will help meet this challenge and raise the money needed to pay for this pioneering innovative new exciting online VOD cinema - a home for black cinema.

I have committed fully to this; and it will undoubtedly develop into something special and I welcome you at the beginning of this journey.

We will only be able to realise this progressive project and continue to provide our much-needed services with your kind-hearted support. We have always been a very self-sufficient independent company which has allowed us to be flexible, nimble and resilient and will continue to be so.

I AM ASKING YOU TO PLEASE HELP PUSH US TOWARDS OUR TARGET GOAL BY MAKING A DONATION TODAY- everything little or small we receive will also drive momentum and encourage many more to give and help us realise the fantastic virtual cinema which is very much-needed and we're sure you will love it.

We are looking for support from long-time supporters, new supporters, friends, colleagues, film fans, community builders and those that want to see more diverse independent and disadvantaged filmmakers getting opportunities to monetise their work through our new platform and we need support from those that would like to enjoy a wider range of content that they would not normally have a chance to enjoy from around the world.
