Greetings and THANK YOU for heeding our big Call-To-Action and taking the time to read this important information which explains why I and my longstanding pioneering business Kush Films (that has represented the UK black community and black filmmakers for 25 years this year) needs your proactive financial support along with widespread word-of-mouth and your direct participatory support by signing up to the soft launch of www.kushcinema.com and using this unique streaming platform; which has been designed to provide you with a one-stop shop to find great back films to watch and enjoy and to uniquely scale up to create career development opportunities for disadvantaged black filmmakers and content creators through us working together and creating our own Film/TV production company supporting the creation of original content that will be distributed to the wider world through KushCinema.com (so we will need more than just your money to truly succeed).

Please also watch my video above as I seek to speak from the heart and personally layout our plans for KushCinema (please excuse my tired look, that’s 18 months of graft in my face lol, I also say we want to raise £60,000 repeatedly but we now have revised our figures and now need to raise £72,000, recording another video would have been problematic).

Why we are fundraising £72,000?

I/my company in building the unique KushCinema.com has incurred debts of £15,000 and that is for the platform build alone. We have also spent another £2800 over the last 12 months on film acquisition, business bills etc and I am not counting the 3,936 estimated hours that I myself have put in working 12 hrs a day developing KushCinema.

We now need your help to push forward with the next stage of development:

We actually need almost £450,000 for the first year costs (to do things fully with the right core personnel), but it’s very difficult to get institutional or private investment for a start-up venture (especially a black-owned one) that needs to show viability and proof of that with good profits being made now.

So the plan is to do things in stages and put our intention to acquire major investment on hold, get the platform successfully working and generating decent revenue over the next 12 months to become ready for major investment and we need your kick-ass support to get there. So to move into stage 2 development and launch KushCinema.com this March 2023 we have stripped costs down to bare essentials and need to raise £72,000, this amount is a daunting figure when crowdfunding; but we truly believe in our community and supporters; and have set this inspiringly high goal of working hard to bring the community together and manifest this great target; proving our community can be self-stainable and financial support can also come from within.

We cannot give away too much as potential competitors are watching!

• KushCinema is a pioneering streaming video-on-demand platform.

• it was inspired by discussion about the need for black ownership in the film/TV

industry (also generally) and fuelled into being by the murder of George Floyd in America during Covid Lockdown.

• The pioneering video-on-demand streaming platform has been built from scratch courtesy of leading software/tech development company i2i whose non-black CEO who was also affected by the George Floyd Murder agreed to generously support Marlon Palmer and this black ownership initiative and build KushCinema with no initial demand for money upfront.

• KushCinema.com will create a one-stop shop for Black film fans to enjoy the best of black cinema (new, rare, classic & original content) & web series content & do what other streaming platforms don’t do; as we know what you want and how you want it!

• The platform will offer a specially curated selection of 12-15 titles monthly in Now Showing for 48 hr rental (saving you the hassle of always searching for content) along with that there will be hundreds of other varied titles in the Browse, Short Film Showcase and other sections for rent and in the KushTVee section there will also be free content to enjoy supported by ads.

• There will be an associated Kush Online Film Club – with bi-monthly online event screenings of new, exclusive and classic films with Q&A’s, themed discussions & more.

• KushCinema will also create an educational resource and archive; revealing and championing black British film/TV history and the pioneers that led the way.

• The long term Crowning Glory:

KushTVee a section of KushCinema will create career development opportunities and jobs for aspiring and more experienced film/TV industry personnel by setting up a major production house to produce our own original content (films, talk shows, series, community & personal development shows and more) which will be distributed worldwide through our platform and forthcoming app.

• KushCinema will endeavour to enforce Positive Representation of Black Culture through the content selected to be available on our platform.
