Although it is still the beginning of 2015, this year I want to intentionally impact my global community. As a Christ follower, I feel helping those whom are less fortunate is my direct calling. I have served in the local area with high risk youth as well as with my local church.
Recently the opportunity to serve in the communist nation of Vietnam became available. The opportunity came about through an organization called Glocal Ventures, Inc. (GVI), started by my local church, who for nearly 20 years has been called to love and serve the people of Vietnam. My trip would begin in Capital city of Hanoi where I will serve in local orphanages and schools to potentially teach English classes, set up computer labs, conduct child abuse prevention training and much more. The orphanages in Vietnam have limited resources and the majority of the children are not adopted. I hope to bring a smile to many of their faces while their! I will also have the opportunity to travel North of Hanoi to some remote areas in the Lao Cai Province where the focus will be on small business training to help local workers and farmers as well as health & hygiene training. We may even get to visit farmers and donate water buffalo that help them cultivate their fields.
My purpose in life has always been to serve others. In ministry, in life or through missions I want to be a representative of love to the local community and through out the world.
Being able to serve internationally comes with a hefty price tag. Many would ask, why not just send money to countries in need? My reply is that money helps, but people make a much greater impact. People bring their skills, knowledge, and loving hearts to help communities in need, and to develop meaningful relationships - which are priceless. This leads to true transformation, by helping others work in interdependency building stronger commerce, education and family units.
I am greatly appreciative of any support you would consider. I feel using my life to bring joy to others is exactly where God wants me. Your support, whether financial or in prayer would be greatly appreciated!
