Kunstler to London
Tax deductible
Every year, London sends us a provocative play or two. And we’re grateful. Now it’s time to send them something tasty. How about we send them the “skillful” and “eye-opening” (those are the adjectives The New York Times used) Kunstler by Jeffrey Sweet starring Jeff McCarthy in a performance that “seduces the audience” (the Times again). Sweet wrote the play for McCarthy, and they were cheered by audiences in New York and in an extended run at the Tony-winning Barrington Stage (“powerful and funny” said the Times Union). The White Bear, a prestigious intimate theater in London, is welcoming us to a run in London beginning in April. We at iTheatre Saratoga and ANDTheater Company have most of the budget raised, but we could use some help with the last $10,000. The money will take our writer, actors (Jeff and Nykila Norman), designer (Will Severin), stage manager (Mary Hansen), crew (Anny Holgate), and director Meagen Fay across the pond and put a roof over their heads. Most of the Americans depicted on British stages are corrupt, crass, opportunistic bozos. Let’s send them a portrait of a compelling American hero, the legendary lawyer William Kunstler. (Besides supporting good work, you get a tax deduction, too!)
