<div>This isn’t the update I was hoping for but unfortunately the cancer has metastasized and spread extensively throughout her body including her neck, femur, lungs, stomach, kidneys, bladder and other areas. After much consideration, she has decided to transition to hospice care. The choice wasn’t easy but it allows her to focus on comfort and be surrounded by love during this time.

<div>My name is Cass and I am fundraising for my grandmother, Melinda, who is battling stage 4 cervical cancer. The mass has grown outside her cervix and is obstructing her kidney.

<div>Her one wish during this fight is simple — she wants to know that her children and grandchildren will be taken care of.

<div>For the last 19 years, my grandma has been the full-time caretaker for my brother, who has down syndrome and she is also the caretaker for her son, who suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car accident several years ago. She has spent her entire life taking care of everyone around her, even when she had nothing left to give.

<div>My grandma is the most selfless person I know. She has never asked for help, even when life has been incredibly unfair to her. She has always put everyone else first — her family, her children, and the people she loves.

<div>Now, for the first time, we are the ones who need to care for her.

<div>With her health declining and medical needs increasing, we are trying to give her something she has never had: peace of mind. She deserves to spend her time surrounded by her family without worrying about how her loved ones will manage once she’s gone or how they will be supported during this time.

<div>We are asking for help from anyone who is able — friends, family, and our community — to lift some of the financial weight and allow her to focus on the time she has left with us.
