KuMel is a free platform and social media founded in April 2020 when the start of Covid-19 crisis in Myanmar by staff of Khiri Travel. We match the volunteer’s interest and organizations or projects’ needs. Meet the team and learn more here !
Why KuMel?
Volunteers are extremely important in Myanmar: Many great projects and NGOs can't afford to hire full-time staff or pay for the expertise they need.
At the same time, many young Burmese are looking to gain more work experience and develop their skills further, when educational programs might be lacking.
KuMel is a free platform, for both organisations and volunteers, from Myanmar and abroad.
Vacancies from a variety of fields are offered: Covid relief, education, health care, tourism, community development, environmental education and conservation, animal shelters and many more...
Our Mission
We want to support local communities and organisations in Myanmar to find volunteers, who can help and assist them with their activities.
At the same time, we want to keep enthusiastic and motivated people informed about exciting volunteer jobs.

How does KuMel work?
We use our website and Facebook page to share daily updates about volunteer vacancies of our non-profit partners.
We serve as a communication channel between non-profit organizations and volunteers.
You can find online application forms and useful tips for your volunteering job. And we share news about our partners’ activities on our social media channels.

Who are we?
We are a group of tourism professionals from Myanmar, working for Khiri Travel – a responsible travel agency. We have years of experience in collaborating with local and international partners in creating positive change across Myanmar. Khiri Travel set up several water well projects in the Central Dry Zone, developed the Clean Bagan Campaign and most importantly, we’re bringing our clients, international travelers to our partner communities. Our expertise in foreign languages, our service oriented nature, our dealings with locals and our understanding of a multicultural working environment paved the way for the leading role in social activities and disaster relief programs in Myanmar.
We have the ability to connect non-profit organizations or communities with enthusiastic volunteers to support much needed social activities amidst the ongoing crisis.
How do we use our funds?
KuMel is a social business, we don’t make any profit from the platform – but in order to be sustainable, we have some expenses. We cover the costs for our website, visit our partner organisations regularly to get updates and we’re currently setting up a more professional admin system with a new printer and stationary.
Here is a detailed list of how we are going to use our funds over the next year to create a sustainable platform:
Website building & hosting for a year: 750 USD
Telephone expenses (45 USD / month * 12 months): 420 USD
Transportation to visit the organisations: 85 USD / month * 12 months): 1020 USD
Advertisement and Public relations budget: 80 USD/ month * 12 months = 960 USD
Printer & laptop: 1190 USD
Stationary: 30 USD / month * 12 months): 360 USD
Electricity: 25 USD / month * 12 months: 300 USD
