Kultrún is a FREE festival that with YOUR CONTRIBUTION will place July 12-14, 2019 in Downtown Kitchener’s Victoria Park. Kultrun World Music Festival is a family-friendly celebration of diversity featuring local, national and international world music bands, all-ages interactive activities, workshops by professional artists, performance art, a food, craft and art market and a beer garden cantina.
Kultrun provides thousands of residents and visitors with access to high quality local, national and international world music artists, workshops and children's programming. Neruda Arts ensures that the programming of its festival reflects the culture and heritage of the Region’s diverse communities while at the same time introducing residents and visitors of all backgrounds to unique, high quality world music artists who would not otherwise perform in the Region. Neruda Arts’ vision is to create a community that dignifies, supports, and interacts with new and established artists from a variety of artistic disciplines and cultural backgrounds.
For the past 17 years, Neruda Arts’ mandate has been to support emerging and new Canadian professional artists, and artists from visible minorities whose work is underrepresented in local cultural institutions. The organization is dedicated to both the professional development of emerging artists and the artistic development of professional artists, while at the same time working to raise awareness and appreciation for diverse forms of cultural expression in the Region.
Kultrún will further our vision by helping to create a fertile environment for culturally diverse arts programming by local, national and international artists, including Indigenous and French-language artists. Neruda Arts will continue to combine high profile world music performers with emerging artists who can benefit from the exposure of performing with their more established peers.
