Thank you for your support for PHS Speech & Debate Team! Because of your continuous generosity, we have won countless national and regional tournaments over the years and our team is set to achieve even better things! This year, we are excited to welcome Ms. Birge, a Special Education and Mathematics Teacher at PHS as our new Head Coach. She brings tremendous amount of energy and passion to our team. We look forward to another exciting year under her leadership and guidance!
We are an intelligent and hardworking group of students at Princeton High School. Our team currently competes in two different categories: Public Forum and Lincoln Douglas Debate. The former is related to current affairs, and the latter takes a more philosophical approach in light of controversial issues. We participate in both regional as well as high profile, highly competitive national tournaments. These competitions are perfect for improving our ability to defend complex positions on contemporary issues and making a name for our high school around the nation.
These tournaments are very expensive to attend and travel to. We need to hire judges, charter buses, book hotel rooms, and pay tournament fees. All of these costs increase every year. Many extremely talented and hard-working students are not able to attend these competitions because of the prohibitive cost. This has inhibited the progress of our team.
Because of the generous support from you, coaches, teachers and the community, we were the home of the #1 Public Forum team in the 2014-2015 season. We consistently have team members qualified for the biggest tournaments of the year where only the best of the best compete. These include Tournament of Champions, the National Catholic Forensics League Grand National Tournament, and the National Speech and Debate Association Tournament, which are all out-of-state, expensive tournaments. Our talent is only increasing, and cementing a name for Princeton High School as one of the great speech and debate teams drastically improves the way people view and respect PHS. Your support will be extremely critical to our success!
The suggested amount of the donation is $20 per person. However, we greatly appreciate donations of any size. We cannot wait to share our success with you!
