Hello!

I am a teacher and this year I will be teaching 2 subjects (Science and PE). I have recently added 3 science classes to my schedule. Science is a great subject. I find that subject matter has more meaning when field trips are implemented, because they get real-world learning experience and aid in promoting a deeper understanding towards the subject matter. I immediately began looking for field trips that would coincide with the curriculum I am teaching and wrote a couple down. However, our school lacks funding which means that field trips are not possible currently. The biggest caveat for field trips is the funding for busses.

A school bus costs $3000 to rent for the day. A charter bus $8,000

Field trips help students:

I can fondly remember every field trip I participated in during grade school and how much of an impact it had on me as a student. I remember going to the science museum and working on hands on activities. I remember going to the zoo in order to photograph animals and further learn information about them for my animal report. I am sure you have a memory of a field trip and what it helped you learn!

We are hoping to take our students to a science exhibit near us (Exploratorium) and/or a lab experience on physical science at a college nearby (I will not disclose due to student safety).

Utilizing this funding would create a positive experience for all, leaving students excited to gain more knowledge and a love for learning. I truly appreciate your consideration in making this an exciting year for my students!
