Jessica's NYLF: Medicine Fund

Hi, my name is Jessica Webber and I am currently a junior at Morris Community High School in Morris, Illinois. I have been working hard to get accepted into a great college that will eventually lead to medical school. I have always had a great interest in science, and as I started to explore the medical field I became immensely intrigued by the human anatomy. This interest soon turned into the dream of becoming a forensic pathologist. In order to become a forensic pathologist I will need to put in 8 years of school and roughly 6 years of residency after high school (14 years, yikes!), but I have the commitment, dedication, and scholarship abilities to not stray away from my goal. I have recently been invited to go to the National Youth Leadership Forum of Medicine for a week this summer. I am beyond honored to be invited to this program! Here I will be able to "utilize my personal and academic strengths and skills in direct, hands-on medical and health care activities, true-to-life medical simulations and unique and stimulating role-playing exercises with peers and medical experts, as I explore and match my interest and passion for a future in medicine and health care." The NYLF of medicine will open up many opportunities for me, that I would be blessed to experience. As I cannot stress enough, I am very passionate for the medical field, and I am willing to do whatever I need to in order to reach my goals. I feel this program will lead me a step closer to doing just that. Unfortunately it does cost a lot of money, and my family is not in a position to take on this extra financial responsibility. I would greatly appreciate the help so I can attend this program that will help me pursue my goal to be successful in this field.
