<div>Our friend Danny was unfortunately diagnosed with a rare form of cancer this summer. He has stage 4, grade 3 metastatic neuroedocrine cancer, with carcinoma markers in his liver tumors. The other identified tumors are in an adrenal gland, lung, mid gut, and bone, but there could be more as they are difficult to find. Mark and I have stepped in to assist him with navigating this devastating disease, as he has no family in the area. He is currently residing in a local skilled nursing facility because he needs high level care and was also evicted due to illness related loss of mobility and hospitalization making it impossible to maintain employment.

<div>Over the past few months, we have put so much time and energy into being supportive friends, digging into medical research, maintaining interactions with care providers, attending appointments, interpreting labs, supporting repeated hospitalizations, and providing and delivering basic supplies to him, that we have been unable to generate our normal income and are struggling to stay afloat.

<div>We are doing our best to support his medical needs and advocate for appropriate care, but also to improve his quality of life and emotional well being. His desires are generally for improved comfort (clothing, gloves, blankets, etc), companionship, enjoyable food, and small items that improve his ability to adjust to this painful disease, life in a wheelchair and institutional environment.

<div>If you are able, please consider donating time, clothing, blankets and such, a folding wheel chair, the occasional meal, or funds for him to use or for us to procure various items, pay for gas, vehicle repairs, etc.

<div>He is currently attempting three rounds of palliative oral chemo medications to see if we can reduce symptoms and control/slow metastasis. We won't have clear information about the efficacy until December, but are hopeful that the regimen is functional. If it is, and his medical and mobilty needs are more manageable, he hopes to move in with us, but we are not yet equipped to handle the level of care he requires.
