I have never done a 10km run in my life. Last Monday I did it for the first time and clocked one hour and 2 minutes. Some invisible force pushes me to run 215 kilometers, one km for every child.
The goal is to raise $7000, and I am putting up the first $500.
$3500 will go towards the Family and Child Service division of Ktunaxa Nation.
$3500 will go towards paying for mental health services for anyone affected by developmental trauma.
The legacy of childhood trauma is dark and poignant. Survivors of residential schools struggle with PTSD, complex trauma, depression, and addiction (drugs, alcohol). Their trauma is often passed onto the next generation. There are so many children who do not grow up in loving and nurturing homes. I am running for these kids. I am running for all the children and adults with ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences).
I wear orange every day and document my journey on Instagram. You can follow my progress here - https://www.instagram.com/glowingatom/
If you like to run with me, shoot me a message on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/leilei1991
I love fellow runners and jog at a gentle, easy-going pace.
Lastly, to all the children I knew, and to those who are still here and battling their demons, I run for you and keep you in my thoughts and prayers every day.
