Casey’s Medical Fund

After battling a year of stomach issues, my lifelong best friend was diagnosed in March 2017 with stage 3 colon cancer. At the sweet young age of 38, her world turned upside down.  As a devoted wife and mother, she pushed through her own self doubt and concerns to ensure nothing changed at home. After consulting with her oncologist, it was determined she could no longer work. This alone had a devastating impact and financial burden. But again Casey and her husband pushed through for the sake of their 2 children. 12 rounds of chemo therapy and she was finally able to ring the bell. The excitement of this was short lived. Just 3 weeks out and another scan later, Casey was given heart wrenching news. The cancer was already back. This time in her liver. To say our world crashed, is an understatement. At this moment we do not know exactly what stage or what type of cancer it is. Either metastasized from her colon cancer or a new cancer all together. Today she endured an MRI to check her brain and next week she will have a liver biopsy. Casey has never been one to ask for help and this is way I felt the need to ask myself.
