Manny's Kidney Transplant Expenses

Donation protected
Up until October 2005, I was living a normal young adult life. Going to school to get my degree in special education, working full time and having an active social life. I had started to feel run down all the time so I decided to go get checked out. I wasn't worried at the time due to the fact that I had always been in good health.  Imagine my shock when I got a call 2 days later from the doctor telling me to go to the hospital. Once at the hospital I was given the bad news, my kidneys had stopped working and I would have to begin dialysis the next day.  My life changed literally overnight.  I was not going to begin the semester at ASU like I was looking foward to. I was not going to become a special educaion teacher. I thought my life was over. 3 days a week for 5 hours I spend at a clinic hooked up to a macine to keep me alive. This had been my life for the past 9 years. It hasn't always been bad, Even though I was not able to get the degree I wanted I did get my Bachelors degree online while I was at treatment. I met my future wife at treatment (she was my technitian). But I have also had my downfalls. I havent been able to secure a job within my degree field because of my scheduling issues. I havent been able to take my wife on the cruise she always wanted because dialysis on the ship is too expensive. It is time for a change, and this change is coming soon. Currently I am listed with the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix AZ to get a kidney transplant. I recently found out that since December 2014, I have been tested against 3 possible kidneys, sadly none were a good enough match, but the fact that they are checking means I am at the top of the list. I have insurance to cover the surgery ans medications, but there are some expenses that are not covered by insurance. Travel, lodging and food are not covered by insurance. I live in El Paso TX and would have to be in Phoenix for up to 6 weeks in recovery. That is where all you great people come in. I am ready to begin living my life free of dependence on a machine. I just  need some help paying these expenses. My goal is 10,000 dollars, It seems like a lot but I want to make sure I am free to concentrate on  my recovery and not worried about funds. After my recovery whatver money is left I will donate to the American Kidney Fund . Pleas help with whatever you can and please be aware of your kidney health. I wouldnt wish for anyone to end up here with me.
