Shawn's Eyesight / Medical Fund
Hello,
As some of you may know, my life has been so blessed, from the family I've grown up in, the parent's who raised me, the brother's I've been blessed to have in my life, my wife, our children and our extended families that we've been so blessed with...and of coursethere is you, my friends. Frankly, the blessings just keep adding up in my life.
However, with all the blessings I can endlessly recite,
I now have a challenge that I am facing which I can't conquer or overcome alone at this time in my life. It all starts when I was diagnosed with diabetes in 2000 and probably had long before that diagnosis. I have been battling it's ugly side effects for 15 or more years now. Lately however, my eyesight in both eyes has become affected by this very troublesome disease. I was recently diagnosed with an abnormal retinal detachment in my left eye which had required some laser treatments to try and correct. Well, as fate would have it, those laser procedures just failed and now I have a partially, abnormal detached retina in 3 places, greatly affecting my vision. This new issue has required another proceedure which has brought me to ask for your help.
I have been told, that I require a series of proceedures that I simply cannot afford without a steady income or insurance. As some of you know as well, that I recently moved home to Redmond, Oregon in order to care for my mother Wilma and I currently do not have the income, nor the insurance to cover these mounting medical expenses. I am applying for assistance, yet that process isn't moving as quickly as one would hope. In fact, it has somewhat delayed the whole process, which has my doctor very concerned. And, without having this proceedure, my retina might fully detach and then I would have serious issues and possibly be permanently blind in my left eye. Currently, I can't travel, not even to drive over the mountain for risk of the retina detaching completely under the pressure changes so, my work has also been taken away, since I can't travel to see clients.
I don't know what's ahead so, I just simply must ask you, my family, my friends, their friends and even some friends I haven't had the privledge to meet yet, to please consider what might be possible in order to help me afford these ongoing proceedures to protect my sight. Whatever is possible, it will be considered one more huge blessing in my life that you would wonderfully be a Huge part.
