Rhett Ireland & Family
On August 3, 2019 Rhett Ireland, 4 year old son of Ashley and Jerod was involved in an accident involving the family dog.
Rhett was airlifted via Stars Air Ambulance to the Calgary Children's Hospital where he remains in the ICU in a medically induced coma.
Rhett's injuries are as follows:
- Broken Arm with 6 Puncture Wounds
- Dislocated TMJ with partial crushing of bone
- 5 breaks to the broken jaw
- minimal fractures to his cheekbones
- Tracheotomy to assist with breathing
Rhett has a long road ahead of him, but he is a fighter! He will be in the Hospital for a number of months to come, returning sometime this fall.
Ashley and Jerod operate a farm south-west of Rocky Mountain House. The Ireland's primary focus is their son at this time, but there are upcoming expenses that they were not ready for. Jerod has been working as he has been able to, but with the downturn of the economy they could use the extra assistance from friends and the community. We need to keep their lights on, and animals fed. They have a number of repairs on their list of 'things to do' around the farm that need to be completed before the freeze hits. Jerod needs diesel to get to and from work, and back to the hospital on his days off (Fort Mac to Rocky Mountain House to Calgary). The more we funds that we are able to raise means the more time Jerod can spend with his family in Calgary. Their daughter, Shelby will be starting middle school this fall and school supplies will be required, along with shoes, clothing etc.
It is extremely hard to go to work and leave your child in the ICU. Hopefully this assists them so that they can be together, for Rhett.
