Jace

Addiction is a disease that many people struggle with. My son Jace has been struggling with opiate and alcohol addiction for many years. We were able to get him clean for a couple of months recently, but he’s relapsed and we really need help. There is a lot about heroin addiction that people don’t understand. Even once you’re clean your brain is constantly telling you that you need to use again. It’s always there in the background. This is a fight that my son is going to be battling for the rest of his life. When talking to my son recently, he asked me to compare heroin addiction to something that we need to live. I gave him many answers and finally he said to me, “Mom, it’s like oxygen for me. I feel like I can’t live without it.” I had always known what addiction was, and I had always known that it was hard, but until that moment I hadn’t quite realized what it was that he was feeling.

The rehab facility that we found that will be able to help him wouldn’t take him unless we were able to pay them $14,500 upfront, and our insurance has refused to cover any of it. Luckily, that was a cost that my sister was able to help us cover, but there are many things we are going to need to be paying in the future and we still need help to save my son.

Jace is only 21 years old and he has his entire life ahead of him, if he can only beat this demon so we are better able to help him find a stable environment to continue living sober. Addiction is an incredibly hard subject and it’s more common than a lot of people realize, and it has taken its toll on my son. It has sucked the life out of him and taken him to impossibly low places. Rehab is currently his only hope, and that is why we are starting this Fundraiser. Our insurance is refusing to help cover any of his rehab expenses and we can’t do it alone. Jace is a wonderful man. He has a passion for helping people. He deserves a chance to live and help people, and he is so capable of doing that.
