Emma Wool Fund

Donation protected

I do have permission from a family member to set up this  account for a friend of mine who I grew up with. His daughter is very sick right now and they need our help. Most of this information provided below  has been taken off of Facebook from Emma's mother Wendy or other friends of the family to help people understand what has been going on with little Emma

Emma Wool, daughter of State Trooper Tom Wool and Wendy Wool, has a rare syndrome called Budd Chiari. This syndrome is caused by either a blood clot or something closing off the hepatic veins of the liver from draining the blood coming into it and not allowing it to get through the heart, causing the blood to back up and cause congestion and scarring the liver. The blood flows to the smaller veins which puts them under stress to accommodate. There is a procedure to relieve this pressure but it is too great of a risk to perform on someone so small (this syndrome usually occurs in adults). Her liver is functioning at about 25% Emma is currently at Pittsburgh children's hospital. We are creating a gofundme account to help raise money for hospital bills, travel expenses, and anything else to help Emma and her family know we are supporting her!

Let me take you back to how this all started-.

Dec 23, 2014 Emma Wool  was admitted to the Geisinger hospital as she was having some complications. After several test she was showing signs of a serious infection. She had septic in her blood. After doing other testing including colonoscopy and a scope they ended up doing a liver biopsy. They said there was problems with her blood flow within her liver causing the backup that was causing pressure build up. Emma’s little organs are very swollen at this point and the Doctors still do not have the answer to what is causing this. Geisinger hospital made a call that they think they know what it is but they are not comfortable with handling this since Emma is so young.

Geisinger hospital suggested Emma is sent to the Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital.  Tom and Wendy agreed on having her moved as they wanted their little girl to get back to good health ASAP. They transferred her via ambulance to the Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital. Once Emma got settled into the Pittsburgh Hospital now missing Christmas at this point they begin testing to see what was going on with her. Emma has two major veins for her liver that are not functioning and they hope to go in and see what is causing this. After doing an MRI on Emma’s veins they found out Emma’s hepatic veins are completely clotted. She is then put on blood thinner but that didn’t break the clot. The clots are too old and they are unable to do the TIPS procedure and break the clots up because the veins at this point could not stand a chance for this procedure and she could potentially bleed to death. As the days go on and Emma is getting weaker the Drs Still are unable to get to the root of the problem. Emma is still in a lot of pain and is nauseous and week and dizzy. Emma is not responding to the medicines well to help her feel better. This is taking a toll on the whole family since nobody seems to have answers for them and they just want their baby girl back to good health.

Please help this famly with anything you could possibly do. Even by just sharing Emma's story the power of facebook has worked before so please let it work for this family. Maybe getting Emma's story out there someone has been through the samething and can help this family. So please find it in your heart to make a donation any amount and if you can't do that then please share Emma's story. We need to help this family.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read about a Emma!
