Betty Lynn Boudreau's Medical Fund

On Saturday January 18, 2015 Betty Lynn Bolt Boudreau was on her way home up the mountain to Big Bear Lake, CA. At 8:30 pm she was involved in a head on collision and was taken to Loma Linda Hospital in Redlands, CA. Within hours family and friends had gathered at the hospital in shock. We learned that the driver that hit Betty's car was under the influence of drugs and alcohol, suspended licensce, uninsured, repeat offender and fled the scene. It took the Jaws of Life to extract Betty out of her car and Hwy 330 was closed for two hours.
When we saw Betty Lynn she was in a coma and on life support. Her injuries included internal bleeding from her spleen, a bruised and lacerated right lung, a fractured nose, most of her ribs broken and a broken left arm. We were told by the CHP that Betty had tried to swerve out of the way as the impaired driver crossed over the double lines and hit her head on and that the speed both cars were going was equivalent to Betty crashing head-on into a brick wall at 100mph. To follow was a move to the ICU, several CT and MRI scans as well as a bolt/gauge surgically implanted into her skull to measure brain swelling.
Betty was in a coma for 4 days and was diagnosed with a severe traumatic brain injury, that would ultimately change her life forever. After 2 weeks in the hospital Betty was moved to a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) Rehabilitation Facility in Encinitas, CA where she stayed for 3 weeks. While in the Rehab she also suffered a Pulminary Embulism, a blod clot in her lung, that set her back on her road to recovery.
Betty is now out of In-Patient Rehab and is called by her medical team their 'Miracle Patient'. Betty lived a very healthy and clean life style. An avid mountain biker up in Big Bear, had several very physical jobs to earn her living and took great care of herself mentally and physically which played a big part in her recovery. We truly believe God saved her from death and has healed her much more than originally thought by her medical team.
Betty has come a long way in her recovery but still has a long road ahead of her, several months in Daily Out-Patient Rehab to re-learn everyday life tasks, as well as more surgeries on her arm that was severely broken.
