Kristi's Battle Against Cancer

This all started a few months ago as a headache on the right side of my head. After several tests, scans, and biopsies the diagnosis was thought to be Squamous Cell Carcinoma. There was a large tumor that formed in my sinus cavity and wrapped around both of my eyes and starting to get into my brain. We went to Duke to meet with the doctors for their opinion. They along with the Doctors at the University of TN Medical Center decided to start me on chemo and radiation with the hope that this will shrink the tumor enough to remove it easy. Surgery was another option, but that early on would have meant that I would have lost both eyes.

After many weeks of intense radiation and chemo the tumor has finally started to shrink. The hope now is that surgery will be an option soon.

But now the hospital and treatment bills are starting to pile up. My insurance is very limited and I haven't been able to work since June.  I hope to be able to go back to work after surgery but there is still a long road ahead.
