<div>Hi, my name is Kristina and I'm taking part in a month long expedition to Kyrgyzstan in the summer 2026 organised by British Exploring Society, which I'm fundraising for.

<div><strong>What is British Exploring Society?</strong>
</div>
<div>British Exploring Society is a youth development charity with a unique heritage, founded on the belief that challenging experiences can change lives, empowering and equipping young people aged 16-25 with the courage, integrity, skills, resilience and motivation to make the most of their future.
</div>

</div>
<div>They prepare young people like me for expeditions to remote locations where they face challenges, acquire outdoor skills and learn about themselves - as well as undertaking various science and media projects relevant to their lives and to the fragile environments that they explore.

<div><strong>Why am I taking part in the expedition to Kyrgyzstan?</strong>
</div>
<div>The expedition in Kyrgyzstan is quite a different opportunity for me compared to what I have experienced or came across before. There are many reasons why I want to take part in it.
</div>

</div>
<div>I want to get to know myself better - be exposed to very different challenges to the ones that I encounter in my day-to-day life, see how I approach these challenges and learn how I can approach difficult situations in a difficult environment in different ways. I'm convinced that it will help me approach other life challenges in a different way, perhaps with a bit more ease. By being in such a remote environment, I am hoping to gain a different perspective on life.

<div>There are a lot of different skills that I want to learn that will be invaluable for me in the future. I want to be able to navigate my way even when it's dark or the visibility is poor. I want to feel confident in what to do when someone gets injured. I want to also be able to use limited resources, whether it is things that I bring with me or things in nature to solve issues that might arise. These could be things like what to do when I run out of water or food, or how to build a fire etc. I want to get to a point, where I do not have to rely on external help, because that might not always be possible. Having the relevant skills that I will learn through the expedition will allow me to do more challenging adventures and visit places that are not currently possible for me. It will also allow me to become a confident leader to be able to take other less experienced people with me and to keep them safe and supported.

<div><strong>Target</strong>
</div>
<div>I have been given the opportunity to take part in this expedition thanks to the generosity of previous supporters. Their donations made it possible for me to go and I am incredibly grateful for that support.
</div>
<div>I am now fundraising to give back and help ensure these programmes can continue for young people in the future.
</div>
<div>My fundraising target is £1250, which goes to British Exploring Society to support the work they do and enable more expeditions in the future.
</div>
<div>However, I'm looking to fundraise at least £500 more, which will go towards additional costs such as clothing and equipment, travel costs to training events etc.
</div>

<div><strong>Čo je Britská prieskumná spoločnosť (British Exploring Society)?</strong>
</div>
<div>Britská prieskumná spoločnosť (British Exploring Society) je charitatívna organizácia pre rozvoj mládeže s jedinečným dedičstvom, založená na presvedčení, že náročné zážitky môžu zmeniť životy. Posilňujú a vybavujú mladých ľudí vo veku 16 – 25 rokov odvahou, integritou, zručnosťami, odolnosťou a motiváciou, aby čo najlepšie využili svoju budúcnosť.

<div>Pripravujú mladých ľudí ako ja na expedície do odľahlých miest, kde čelia výzvam, získavajú outdoorové zručnosti a spoznávajú seba samých – a zároveň realizujú rôzne vedecké a mediálne projekty relevantné pre ich životy a krehké prostredie, ktoré objavujú.

<div><strong>Prečo sa zúčastňujem expedície do Kirgizska?</strong>
</div>
<div>Expedícia v Kirgizsku je pre mňa celkom iná príležitosť v porovnaní s tým, čo som doteraz zažila alebo s čím som sa stretla. Existuje mnoho dôvodov, prečo sa jej chcem zúčastniť.

</div>
<div>Chcem sa lepšie spoznať – byť vystavená veľmi odlišným výzvam, než s ktorými sa stretávam v každodennom živote, vidieť, ako k týmto výzvam pristupujem, a naučiť sa, ako môžem riešiť náročné situácie v náročnom prostredí rôznymi spôsobmi. Som presvedčená, že mi to pomôže pristupovať k životným výzvam iným spôsobom, možno s väčšou ľahkosťou. Pobytom v takom odľahlom prostredí dúfam, že získam iný pohľad na život.

<div>Existuje veľa rôznych zručností, ktoré sa chcem naučiť a ktoré budú pre mňa v budúcnosti neoceniteľné. Chcem sa vedieť orientovať, aj keď je tma alebo slabá viditeľnosť. Chcem mať istotu v tom, čo robiť, keď sa niekto zraní. Chcem tiež vedieť využiť obmedzené zdroje, či už sú to veci, ktoré si so sebou prinesiem, alebo veci z prírody na riešenie problémov, ktoré by mohli vzniknúť. Môže ísť napríklad o to, čo robiť, keď mi dôjde voda alebo jedlo, alebo ako založiť oheň atď. Chcem sa dostať do bodu, kedy sa nebudem musieť spoliehať na vonkajšiu pomoc, pretože to nemusí byť vždy možné. Získanie relevantných zručností, ktoré sa počas expedície naučím, mi umožní absolvovať náročnejšie dobrodružstvá a navštíviť miesta, ktoré sú pre mňa momentálne nemožné. Umožní mi to tiež stať sa sebavedomou líderkou, ktorá bude môcť vziať so sebou aj menej skúsených ľudí a zabezpečiť ich bezpečnosť a podporu.

<div><strong>Cieľ</strong>
</div>
<div>Príležitosť zúčastniť sa tejto expedície som dostala vďaka štedrosti predchádzajúcich podporovateľov a za túto podporu som nesmierne vďačná. Teraz zbieram finančné prostriedky, aby tieto programy pre mladých ľudí mohli pokračovať aj v budúcnosti.

<div>Mojím cieľom je získanie 1250 libier, ktoré pôjdu Britskej prieskumnej spoločnosti (British Exploring Society) na podporu ich práce a umožnenie ďalších expedícií v budúcnosti.
</div>
<div>Snažím sa však získať aspoň 500 libier navyše, ktoré pôjdu na dodatočné náklady, ako je oblečenie a vybavenie, cestovné náklady na školenia atď.
