Support a LEGEND! My Drum Corps Summer.
Hello everyone!
As you may have heard, I am so fortunate to have been contracted with Legends Drum & Bugle Corps as a member of the trumpet section for the 2014 marching season. This will be my first year in drum corps and I am incredibly excited to have this opportunity.
This summer the marching season is 63 days long, and will carry us over 6,000 miles with performances and competitions in Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Washington DC, Pennsylvania, and Ohio...all finishing up with a performance at the DCI World Championships at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The thing is, I need your help to make this all happen...
As a member of the drum corps, I am responsible for paying $3,000 in tuition to help offset a portion the costs for the summer. This money helps to pay for professional instruction, transportation, lodging, meals, uniforms, instruments, equipment and the three remaining winter rehearsal camps. I've already attended audition and rehearsal camps in November, December, January and February. (I can't quite believe we only have two camps left until move-ins in June)
I am writing you, and conducting this campaign, to ask for your help in sponsoring my involvement with Legends this summer. Anything at all would be greatly appreciated -- whether it might be $5, $10, $15, $25, $50 or more!
As a way of thanking you for your support, I am offering several "sponsor packages" where you could come see me perform this summer, have me volunteer my time helping another charity in 2014, get postcards or email/text updates from me during the summer tour. All my supporters will receive a thank you and a final update at the end of the season.
About the Legends and Drum Corps:
In case you were wondering, the Legends Drum & Bugle Corps is a member of Drum Corps International (www.dci.org). The corps members are typically age 16-22 and this ensemble operates from early June through the first week of August. More information on the organization can be found on their website at www.legendspaa.org/drumcorps.
If you aren't familiar with drum corps, it is essentially the sport of music, marching, and movement. My dad marched when he was about my age and still remembers those summers as the best of his life.

The Legends Performing Arts Association is a non-profit educational and youth organization chartered by the state of Michigan and the IRS as a 501(c)3 corporation (Federal Tax exempt ID #20-5616426). Legends has a philosophy of providing an environment to develop character, important life lessons, effective programming, and provide a setting of education through performance.
If you choose to make a general donation directly to the Legends Performing Arts Association it does qualify as a tax deductible donation.
