Help Kristal Ocean get her BSc & MSc

Hello, My name is Kristal Ambrose also known as 'Kristal Ocean' and I am a marine pollution researcher from The Bahamas. For the past 7 years I have worked in the field of marine science within the capacity of research, education and outreach. Within the last two years I have been employed as a research associate managing the Patch Reef Ecology and The Beach Plastic Research Program at the Cape Eleuthera Institute. Most recently, I started a non profit organization called The Bahamas Plastic Movement: a nonprofit environmental organization committed to raising awareness of plastic pollution to Bahamians through research, education, citizen science and policy change.

For the past year I have been trying to return to university to acquire my Bachelors degree but due to financial complications I have not been able to continue my education. I have successfully obtained an Associate’s Degree of Applied Science in Fisheries Management and Aquaculture from Hocking College but to further my career it is important that I return to university. 

I have been accepted into Gannon University's combined Bachelor of Science/Master of Science Program with a focus on Environmental Science. Given my extensive background in the scientific field in addition to having an associates degree, I will be done with both degrees in under 4 years. The school has given me a small scholarship but it is still not enough to cover the $41,062 p/y tuition. If I can raise at least $20,000, I will be able to cover the tuition to attend university this fall. I have also applied for 2 major and 2 minor scholarships that I hope to have success with.

Upon my return from school I will continue to develop my non profit organization to aid in developing ways to create a Plastic Free Bahamas through proper education, research and recycling programs.
