Krista and Steve

On Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at about noon, Krista and Steve Stratton were on motorcycle ride vacation in the Keys.  While riding back toward Miami with their friends riding behind them, they were hit by a driver in an SUV, who, while attempting to change lanes, failed to leave clearance between her vehicle and Krista and Steve's motorcycle.  Steve was thrown into the air from the bike.  He sustained a concussion, facial lacerations that required stitches, deep sprains of right knee and ankle, a possible fractured humerus, and had to have his ear surgically reattached, along with r.  Krista was thrown from the back of the bike and sustained many injuries.  She has a concussion, a skull fracture of her orbital bone that was surgically stablized.  Her collarbone is broken in 2 places.  Her wrist is fractured.  Her foot and two toes are broken.  She, like Steve, has MANY cuts, scrapes, bruises and she also suffered severe "road rash" places on her arms, legs, feet, hands, knees and head.   Both Krista and Steve were unconscious following the accident and had to be air lifted from the scene to the trauma center in Miami.

The minimum requirement of car insurance in Florida is $10,000.  It is distinctly possible that the woman that hit them will only have a combined total of $20,000 for all of Krista and Steve's medical bills.  This total will barely, if at all,  cover the cost of the life saving treatment that they received on the helicopter.  The hospital, believing that this is the amount of insurance money that there will be for covering the bills, made sure that Krista and Steve were stable, and quickly released them, without fixing most of the problems.  They were informed that before they could return to have their stitches removed, they would need to make a substantial deposit on their account.  Also, they have been informed that their own health insurance may not cover any of the bills because the injuries were sustained in a vehicle accident.

Today, Krista was told that she needs extensive MRIs and will need to see physicians at the Cincinnati Eye Institute regarding her skull fracture.  Steve, was finally given a boot for his ankle.  All of this is happening, while Steve is still trying to run his own company.  Krista has had to take a leave of absence from work.

Krista and Steve are some of the most generous people I know.  They would, and have, given the shirt off of their backs to people in need.

As many of you know, Krista is more than just my sister, she is my second mother and my best friend.  She is has amazing strength and fortitude and  the greatest faith in God of anyone that I know.  She shines her light and love on everyone.  These last few years have been a trial on her faith and she has never doubted God's plan.  I am trying to find a little of her strength and hoping to be able to help her and her family in the process.  God has a plan and everything happens in God's time.

While they wait for lawyers and insurance companies, their debt is piling up and they are being refused care.  Please help me to help them.
