Krik? Krak! Computer Project

Donation protected
Asking others to take a share in our idea, trying to change the way things are in a nation far away, it's a difficult thing. Haiti is unimaginable if you have never been. To have faith in us and our mission, to give what you can, will help make that change happen.

My name is Broden, and my co-founder James and I hope to have you as a partner in KrikKrak Computer Project.

OUR MISSION
We envision an affordable model of delivering technology and information literacy to the primary school children of Haiti’s Central Plateau and ultimately, beyond. Our goal is to provide the knowledge and experience that empowers young students to seek solutions to the challenges they face and to give them the means of achieving their own goals, both now and for future generations.

We use hands-on instruction to teach computer literacy for information access, responsible digital citizenship, and the development of employable skills to take advantage of educational and economic opportunities in the digital age.

Only 1 in 150 of the students we plan to help have ever used a computer, due to lack of infrastructure and poverty. We believe that existing inequality to technology access must change.  Our method is to prepare youth with foundational knowledge and experience that opens future opportunities, like the ones James found.

Will you help us be the change?

James and I promise to honor your donation and make it as useful as possible. We are not a 501c3  entity so cannot offer tax deductibility, however, 100% of the funds will go to the itemized expenses below and we will be keeping records available for review.

MEASURING SUCCESS: FUTURE GOALS
1) We will publish an introductory computer literacy curriculum for 4th - 6th grade, including one that is language and culture-centric and can be taught over one month.
2) We will deploy the curriculum along with our mobile computer lab for our first school in Lamare, Haiti in June 2020.
3) We will use standardized surveys before and after the program to collect data on the program's effectiveness, as well as its potential for the next school year with the next 5 schools we have identified.
4) We update you with the challenges and successes along the way on our website (https://www.krikkrakcomputerproject.org)  and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/krikkrakcomputerproject).

We hope to see you join our effort. In recognition of your commitment, we will be offering an "I am the Change" bracelet to the first 30 donors who donate $30 or more. Hand-made in Haiti from leather and a Haitian coin called a Gourde (pronounced "goo-d"), the bracelets are made by the artisans of Papillion Marketplace, a non-profit that works to prevent children from becoming orphans by keeping parents employed.
(Please include your email address in the donation form so that we can make arrangements to send the bracelet.)
