<div>DE: Ich bin Sofia Kröplin, Fotografin aus Berlin, und arbeite seit Januar 2025 an meinem Projekt <em>The Fight We Never Asked For</em>.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><em>The Fight We Never Asked For</em> ist ein fotografisches Langzeitprojekt und wurde 2025 erstmals in Berlin ausgestellt.

<div>ENG: My name is Sofia Kröplin, I’m a photographer based in Berlin, and since January 2025 I’ve been working on my project <em>The Fight We Never Asked For</em>.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In this work I photograph and interview people who are living with, have lived with or are affected by cancer, including their families and loved ones. Through these encounters I create intimate stories and portraits that reflect their experiences, fears, hopes and everyday life with cancer.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The project began after my own breast cancer diagnosis in September 2022, which deeply changed my life. Photography became a way for me to process what I went through and to connect with others who share similar experiences.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The portraits are created through very personal, time intensive meetings and are approached with a lot of care and sensitivity. Participation is always free and the participants also receive the images at no cost. To continue this work and expand the project internationally which is a big personal goal of mine I rely on support for production, travel, accommodation, equipment, as well as exhibition and printing costs.

<div><br />
</div>
<div><em>The Fight We Never Asked For </em>is a ongoing photographic project that was first exhibited in Berlin in 2025 and featured as a cover story in SZ Magazin in early 2026. Another exhibition will follow in September 2026 as part of the Ostkreuz School of Photography.

<div>Any support helps me continue this work and meet more people affected by cancer. Thank you so much ❤️
