Chloe's Fight With PH Leukemia

Donation protected
The end of March was the start to a nightmare no parent ever wants to go through. On March 24, eight-year-old Chloe was diagnosed with what we all thought was Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL). This news in itself was tough enough for everyone who knows Chloe.

Since birth she had already been living with a rare chromosome deletion, 17q12, RCAD Syndrome and Autism. Because of these existing conditions, Chloe has always had sensory issues and doesn’t handle even common medical procedures well. The sad part is there was relief that it was a common type of childhood cancer considering the rarity of some of her other conditions.

On April 7, the results of Chloe’s bone marrow test and spinal tap came back with the news that her cancer is not as common after all. She has now been diagnosed with Philadelphia Chromosome positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ALL), which will require a more aggressive treatment plan.

A team of up to 16 doctors have been involved, telling Lisa, Chloe’s mom, that it is a hard and unusual case because of her chromosome deletion which means they need to analyze and assess new ways to offer treatment.

Later that same day, Chloe had to go back to the hospital because she was unable to even move. It turned out she was in diabetic ketosis because she had undiagnosed Type 1 diabetes, the cause of which is still baffling her team of doctors. She also had a drug induced chemical pancreatitis and has sepsis. She is currently stable, but has a long, hard road ahead of her.

Needless to say, Lisa has been at Chloe’s side non-stop and has been unable to work. While fine for now, costs are going to begin adding up quickly and doctors have already told Lisa she can expect at least two years of treatment. This has been hard on the whole family, including her seven-year-old sister Jenna who just wants Chloe to come home.

If there is any way you can help out at all, it would make a world of difference to Lisa, Chloe & Jenna during this challenging time.
