Kramer's Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
Before I get to the sad stuff, let me tell you about Kramer and her owner, Kent. Kramer is quite possibly the sweetest and most adorable dog I know. She is the loyal companion to our friend Kent McDaniel.  My husband, Tommy met Kent about 12 years ago through business. We quickly became friends with Kent and his young (at the time) pup, Kramer.  When we saw Kent, we saw Kramer and she has always been welcome in our home and business.  Over the years we have followed the adventures of Kent & Kramer. Even if we couldn't get together personally, we always knew what they were up to through social media. Kent has a rather quirky sense of humor and Kramer always plays along with his silly antics. Theirs is a rare and very special bond that brings joy to everyone around them or who follows them online.

For over a year Kent has planned an adventure with Kramer in which they would travel across the country in an RV (think Subaru commercial) checking off Kramer's bucket list for her 13th birthday. He named it the Kramericatour. Because Kent can do his work from anywhere and he has customers all over the country, he made a plan to work along the way, meet with his prospect and customers, visit friends, and finally meet some of their Facebook followers/friends. To make this all happen, Kent let the lease on his apartment run out and he gave nearly everything away. What little he wanted to keep fit into the smallest storage unit he could find. Kent bought a truck and a trailer and was just about ready to hit the road when he noticed something wasn't right with Kramer.  On the day he was packing the last of his belongings into the storage unit he took Kramer to the see the veterinarian who after several return visits diagnosed Kramer with squamos cell carcinoma in her throat, which is an aggressive form of cancer that, because of its location and her age is difficult to treat.  The tumor is ulcerated, which without pain management, causes quite a bit of pain and keeps her from eating and drinking much water.  Obviously, there is never a good time for cancer to strike, but the timing of this could not have been worse for these two since now they are essentially homeless while waiting for cancer treatment to begin.  (Don't worry, we are happy to have them stay with us as long as necessary).

Kent has received a few options on how to treat Kramer's cancer which will give her a good quality of life for hopefully at least another 12-18 months.  Radiation with chemotherapy is the route to go. The estimated cost for the treatments are:
1) Intense radiation: $6,000 to $7,000 (20 sessions over 4 weeks)
2) Palliative radiation: $3,000 (once a week for 4 weeks)
3) chemo: 4 treatments x $600 each (once a week for 4 weeks)
That totals over $10,000 in vet bills!

Kent is not the type to ask for any help, but I can tell you that he and Kramer really need help right now! Kramer deserves the chance to beat this and go on the Great Kramericatour! We can all help her and her daddy! This is our opportunity to help two souls who have brought light and happiness into countless lives.

As one of Kent's Facebook friends said, "We all love Kramer and her many wonderful adventures. She brightens everyone's day through Kent's fantastic lens of humor and love for her."

Any help for Kramer will be repaid with miles of smiles as we all watch her adventures continue!
