Help for Ant
Donation protected
***UPDATE***
First, the family wants to thank everyone for donating, sharing and praying for Ant. We are ALL blown away by your support. Ant is overwhelmed by everyone's generosity and wishes he could thank everyone personally.
Now, for the good stuff...His trach was removed yesterday! This is a huge step in recovery! The staples have been removed from his head and leg. He still has a screw in his hand. Not sure if he has named it but he says he wants to keep it, hahaha. Ant has lost a lot of leg strength. This is making him mad, and he regrets missing all those leg workouts. He'll get there, but it will take lots of rehab. It's going to take some time before he can walk.
He refuses to eat pureed roast beef. Can't say I blame him. :)
He is in an extraordinary amount of pain. Please pray that his pain subsides this week.
He had a cardiac loop connector put in to monitor irregular heart activity. This will record activity for 2 years and hopefully give doctors answers on why he is having these episodes.
He will need extensive dental work. This will be where the bulk of your donations will go towards.
The nurses have fallen in love with him and his sense of humor. He will get through this but it will take months of rehabilitation. Please continue to pray for his full recovery and donate when you can. xxoo
As most of you know, last Friday, 8-12-22, my nephew Lloyd Anthony Welford aka Ant, was involved in a head-on collision. He was flown from Westminster to Baltimore's University of Maryland Shock Trauma unit.
His current injuries include two broken legs, a broken wrist, a broken jaw, a broken nose, multiple rib fractures, staples in his head and a slight tear on his aorta. It is nothing short of a miracle that he survived.
While he has made significant progress, he has a very long road to full recovery. Fortunately, he doesn't remember the accident, and we are very grateful.
Even with insurance, his bills will be astronomical. He will be out of work for an indefinite amount of time. In addition to the hospital bills, he will need physical rehabilitation, dental surgeries, and a car. Although these are just what we know now, needs could come up as he recovers.
Ant is a fighter. He always has been. Whether on the football field with his Rhino teammates or rooting for his beloved Green Bay Packers, he always gives 100%. We know he will carry this drive through rehabilitation and continue to get stronger daily. However, because he will need to focus on recovery, we don't want him to worry about money or bills at this time.
Anything you can give is appreciated. Honestly, no amount is too small. And, please continue the prayers; they are working!
Many thanks from the Welford/Ruppert family. We really appreciate your love and support for our Ant.
