On November 6,2014 Cody called home to Iowa to tell his mom that he was sick and had been seen by a Korean hospital . His exact words" hey mom , i have something to tell you. I went to a Dr here today and I 'm gonna tell you something but you gotta not freak out " , I have cancer . His mom has been at his side since he arrived from Korea, leaving her job on FMLA and is fighting to keep her job as they denied the. 26 wks for a military caregiver and the 12 wks they approved will run out February 2014.The military is covering Cody 's medical expense and have put his mom on orders for non medical attendant. The family has incurred loss of his mom's wages so she may be with him as caregiver and support plus daily living expense and keeping things going at their home back in Iowa, where they also take care of Cody 's elderly grandmother.
