Help us visit James our autistic son.

My name is Dave Campbell and I am married to Emily. Together we have 4 children Rebecca, James, Harry and Leia all of who suffer varying degrees of autism. My wife suffers from fibromyalgia, myself I am also on the autistic spectrum and due to having Cancer as a younger man in my 20s I have been left with dead bone in my legs leaving it very difficult to walk without severe pain. Neither Emily or myself work due to these things. At one stage Emily was working as a midwife before the pain became too much to handle. I myself stoped working for Ulster Bank over 10years ago to become a full time carer for the kids. Emily is on disability allowance and I'm in receipt on the carers Allowance. All of this is relevant because it leaves us in a position that public transport is not an option leaving us in a very isolated situation. Recently my eldest son James (pictured in the caption) has moved into residential care, a heart breaking decision that Emily and myself had to make . The decision was made because James over the year and a half became increasingly violent do to the severe isolation of covid. He had no school, no services available for children with special needs. Worst of all unable to see his grandparents who he is incredibly close to. All of theses this helped regulate James mood, with out it all hell broke loose. The decision was made to send James to residential care after an incedint where he grabbed Emily by the throat and nearly choked the life out of her. Unfortunately the residential care home James is in is about a 40 min drive from where we live with no access by public transport. So we saved and saved because we knew this day was coming and we bought a car, the only one we could afford. This leads to why I set this up because this was the last thing I wanted to do, I'm not someone who looks for hand outs but as a family we have no where left to turn. Our car is falling apart and needs a lot of repairs so we are now unable to visit James and we only get to see him for maybe 3 to 4 hours a week. We are in desperate need of help we miss our boy so much and we don't want him to think he has been abandoned.
