Fionia Funeral Fund

Fionia Hardy, age 17, died Friday night after being hit by a car. Her family is in for a rough bunch of weeks ahead. They are hard working people doing the best they can, but they have no savings, no insurance, no nothing. Medicaid is telling me they only cover the hospital bills, not the funeral costs. The family can't assume that the driver will be found at fault, or that his insurance will be sufficient to cover the bills. Even if it does, it will come too late. The funeral industry doesn't do payment plans. It's all up front. 

Having your child die is a terrible, terrible thing. No parent should then have to face the choice of not claiming the body because they can't pay for a funeral. That is why I got involved. As a friend of the family, I couldn't bear to watch them go through any more than they already have. For once in their life, I want them to be able to give their daughter something nice.

So, we need to raise $15K to pay for the funeral (funeral service, casket, burial plot, burial service, etc). This is an insane amount of money for any one person, but if we all pitch in together, we can make it happen.
