This is a story about Jenelle “Nelly” Eaton. She is an outstanding 17 year old girl who enjoys cheerleading, being with family and friends, listening to music and of course shopping. I am a friend of the family who knows they are going to need all the help they can get.

On January 1 2014 Nelly woke up and couldn’t walk. Her parents Laura and Joshua Eaton rushed her to Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence RI where a MRI discovered she had a tumor wrapped around her spinal cord. She had a spinal resection on January 3, 2014 to try and remove the tumor which was the size of a Clementine. Her journey began with a variety of tests such as bone marrow spinal taps, cat scans of the brain, pet scans, blood work and more. March 2014 the tumor began growing again and radiation started instantly which continued until May 2014. The tumor had tested neurotic. The family went for a second and third opinion to Dana Farber Cancer Center in Boston Ma and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. They said it was a rare tumor and seemed to be in remission at that time.

August 2014 the tumor began to grow again and there was more frequent monitoring. During this time Nelly’s pain level began to increase. October 2014 they noticed the tumor growing upwards and aggressive, starting to lean back on to the spinal cord. Her pain became more intense at this time due to the fact that her nerve endings were affected.

December 26 2014 she had an endoscopy lumbar puncture where they collected biopsies of the tumor. January 21, 2015 Nelly had a port placed into her chest and chemotherapy began the following day. Her chemotherapy treatments will last 36 weeks and will contain 6 different medications. She will then begin radiation once again. Her final diagnosis is Ewings Like Sarcoma. On this same day her father Joshua, who is the sole provider at this time found out his job will be moving and he will no longer be employeed and this will happen within the next year.

In April her MRI showed that her tumor had shrunk 60 to 70%.  The tumors began growing again soon after that. Nelly’s original tumor has doubled in size as of 6/4/2015 and there is another tumor growing on her tailbone. A third surgery is scheduled Monday June 8, 2015 to suppress the tumor pressing against her spinal cord. Nelly faces paralysis if this does not work.

She will begin Vitamin C drip through her port and then travel to get second opinions at Dana Farber in Boston and Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland Ohio.
All chemo and radiation has stopped at this point.

As of late August 2015 we have been told that the cancer is so aggressive that it has taken over her entire spinal column.  Nelly is now home and we are trying to keep her comfortable, pain free and praying for a miracle.  Nelly has faced her fears and weaknesses. She has had a constant smile on her face through her fight like nothing I have ever seen before. She has changed my whole life.   I am asking everyone to share her story to send prayers. We are all strong in faith and know that with God all things are possible.

I am asking anyone who has a special prayer or inspirational story, card or message to please send it to Nelly to help lift her spirits during this difficult time. We have all been through some type of struggle in our lives; imagine having the prayers of others or inspiring stories to help get you through. Please send your message of hope or inspiration to Nelly to help make her road a little easier to travel.

As of November 21, 2015 at 9:06pm the Lord called this beautiful angel into his Kingdom. She fought until her very last breath. She has instilled in us a beautiful smile that has burned into our souls.
All donations from today forward will be used toward Nellys services.
Thank you all for your love and support.

Thank you and remember Pray for Nelly.
