Tornado Sculpture

Donation protected

They say lightning never strikes the same place twice.  Lightning doesn't but tornadoes do.  In 2013 and 2015, tornadoes carved destructive paths through Diamond and Coal City, Illinois.  They left millions of dollars in damage and many without a place to live.  Despite all the destruction, our spirits stayed strong.  Volunteers poured in to help.  Neighbors, friends, and relatives joined together to rebuild our community.  In celebration of staying STRONG, we are creating a memorial sculpture promoting faith in our community. To help build this monument, we need your donation.  Any amount is appreciated.  Tornadoes may have destroyed our town but never our spirit.
Our fourth grade class has chosen this project as a community project for our towns.  We have collected items from the tornado to help us build our sculpture.  Some of the items are metal poles, gates, shingles, pieces of fence, gutters, pieces of tables and chairs, broken glass, etcetera.  We are planning on attaching our sculpture to a visible area in our community so all members of the community and visitors can view it.  We have a local vocational school that will help us with welding all the items together.  We plan on using the metal poles to spell the word "STRONGER."  Then we will attach all of the tornado debris to the letters.  Somewhere in the structure we want to be sure to show helping hands since we feel it was all the helping hands that helped make our community stronger from these two tragedies.  We are lucky enough to have two local artists working with our class.  We would like to begin building the structure in March so we can display it in May before school is out.  We need your help to raise funds to connect all these objects together and attach it to a sturdy base.  So lend a "helping hand" and make any donation large or small.
